The Society collects members’ names and addresses. We process this data on the basis of ‘legitimate interests’ as we cannot administer your membership of the Society without this information. We will post you a Membership Card detailing Society events. We will post you our award-winning Quarterly Newsletter about the Society. This sometimes contain information about additional Society activities, such as coach trips, or publications. We might post you intervening information if we thought circumstances justified this.
If you consent, we also collect your email address to tell you more – and faster –about the Society and related local history activities than would be practicable by paper. If relevant, we process your Gift Aid data and keep it for the six years required by HMRC. We have an ‘age’ check because of the new tighter rules for children’s data.
We do not share your data with any third party.
Your membership data is stored securely. If we thought that your data had become compromised, we would tell you.
